Providing reliability, performance and scalability, IBM Spectrum Scale™ can be implemented for a range of diverse requirements.
This topic describes IBM Spectrum Scale AFM-based Async Disaster Recovery functionality. RTO Recovery time objective (RTO) defines the amount of time it takes an application to fail over when a disaster occurs. Specific to AFM-based Async DR, RTO is the time taken for a fileset to become available for applications after a primary failure.
Spectrum Scale Advanced File Management (AFM) Spans geographic distance and unreliable networks • Caches local ‘copies’ of data distributed to one or more Spectrum Scale clusters • Low latency ‘local’ read and write performance • As data is written or modified at one location, all other locations see that same data We’ll be running a series of digital webinars along the lines of the talks we’d normally have at SSUG events hosted by the Spectrum Scale user group people. Talk 1: What is new in Spectrum Scale 5.0.5. Talk 2: Best practices for building a stretched cluster. Talk 3: Spectrum Scale Strategy Update.
IBM Spectrum Scale components - “Core” Control traffic “Configuration/feature related” – AFM related RPCs: Overview: While the data traffic part of AFM was discussed earlier, AFM also uses client to AFM gateway RPCs in order to let the GW know about filesystem operations that need to be replicated by the GW.

Spectrum Scale AFM Deep Dive July 5, 2018 by Lindsay Todd, posted in Uncategorized This is a talk I did for the “ Accelerate with IBM Storage ” webinar on Spectrum Scale’s Active File Management (AFM) capability. IBM Spectrum Scale Active File Management (AFM) offers filesystem caching and synchronization across multiple Spectrum Scale clusters located at different geographic locations. It also facilitates data migration from non-Spectrum Scale filesystems to Spectrum Scale filesystem.
